Weno is the capital of Chuuk State in the Federated States of Micronesia, located in a massive lagoon containing some 60 islands. With approximately 15,000 residents, this island is famous as the site of the WWII "Ghost Fleet of Truk Lagoon"—one of the world's premier wreck diving destinations.
The Japanese naval base at Truk was devastated by Operation Hailstone in 1944. Over 60 ships and 250 aircraft rest on the lagoon floor. Weno represents Pacific war history—WWII legacy, world-class diving, and Micronesian island life.

Micronesian settlement spans millennia. Spanish and German colonial periods preceded Japanese mandate. Japan developed Truk as a major naval base. Operation Hailstone (February 1944) destroyed the fleet.
US administration followed WWII. Micronesian independence (1986) established Compact of Free Association. Today Weno offers—world-class wreck diving, WWII history, and remote Pacific island experience.
