📜 History

Originally called Pulau Blakang Mati ("Island of Death from Behind"), the island served as a British military base. Fort Siloso protected Singapore's harbor approaches. During WWII, the British surrendered here (1942). Japanese forces used it as a POW camp.

Post-independence, the government renamed it Sentosa (1972) and began tourism development. Major expansions came with Resorts World Sentosa (2010), including Universal Studios.
