Zenkoji Illumination
From December 21 through mid-February, the temple grounds and surrounding areas transform into a winter wonderland with spectacular light displays running from 5pm to 10pm. Nagano Lantern Festival
Held annually in mid-to-late February, this enchanting festival commemorates the 1998 Winter Olympics with thousands of illuminated lanterns creating a warm glow against the winter snow. Zenkoji Gokaicho
A once-every-six-years sacred event where a replica of the temple's hidden principal icon is displayed publicly, with the next occurrence scheduled for April through June 2027.
