📖 About Ljubljana

Ljubljana, the capital and largest city of Slovenia, is home to approximately 300,000 residents. Since Slovenia's independence in 1991, Ljubljana has served as the nation's cultural, economic, political, and administrative center. The city boasts a GDP per capita of around €35,000, reflecting its prosperous economy. Key industries include pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, food processing, and electronics, driving employment and innovation across the metropolitan area.

The iconic Dragon Bridge, completed in 1901 and adorned with four magnificent dragon statues, has become the symbol of Ljubljana. Renowned architect Jože Plečnik transformed the city in the early 20th century, designing bridges, markets, and public spaces that define Ljubljana's unique character today. The car-free Old Town along the Ljubljanica River creates a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere perfect for cafes and cultural life. Ljubljana was recognized as the European Green Capital in 2016 for its sustainability initiatives.
